The New Hotcake

I won't say that this curry puff's the best curry puff in the world, but of all the ones that I've got my hands on before, this should be one of the Top 5.

First of all it's double the size of a normal curry puff, and then there's the half-piece of hard boiled egg right in the middle of the spicy dhal-sort-of curry.

It might not be a good combination to some people, but I certainly like it :D

To state the facts, the tray of about 50 puffs will disappear within about 2 hours the moment these are served for sale to the hungry college students.

And if you're late...well, you're just gonna have to wait for another day XD

Yvonne..

Same!

Found my lappie's twin brother!

Ya know wyekeat, we should totally hold a ceremony for our lappies to become twin bros, what say you, eh? XD

Gasoline

Hang out with Kim and Agnes today at Times Square. Shopped majorly. I bought a pair of shoes and a handbag O.O Seriously I think I need to consider the option of working part-time. Anyway for lunch we went to Gasoline.

Gasoline - A comic-themed restaurant.

Chocolate Mint Ice Blended
Agnes loveeesss this. The ice's a bit too coarse though.

Black Pepper Butter Chicken Chop
The sauce's quite good actually, but kinda salty.
Mushroom soup tasteless :(

The chicken was quite nice though, soft and well-done.
Not too bad.

Cheese Butter Seafood Rice
Quite okay to me... but not really worth it, Agnes said.

The atmosphere at Gasoline's actually quite pleasant, the service wasn't that bad as well. But the food were not really up to par, probably because it was lunch peak hour when we entered the restaurant so everything's cooked up in a hurry.

Later on we stepped into Krispy Kreme to hang out/rest there. I don't know why last time when it was newly opened there's Hershey's Milk Chocolate and Hershey's Cookies and Cream flavour but now they're no longer on the display racks. So we got the original glazed instead. Still the best. ^o^

Pink Guava Juice.

Miss you guys loads. xoxo

M-U-F-F-I-N-S

This time it's muffins!! Or to be exact, Choc Chip Chocolate Muffins with Walnuts and Banana! Lol I know the name's very long.

A success!!! Crisp on the outside, moist on the inside!! But yeah I admit it's a little bit too moist inside but I discovered that after a few days letting the muffins in the fridge they actually taste better O.O It's like the chocolate intensified and the muffin turned into a dense chocolate cake which is utterly utterly heavenly when you eat it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The mixture. I know it looked a bit messy. xP

My kitchen smelled like chocolate that time...

I like the cracks on the muffins :)

The inside.
The darker parts represent melted dark chocolate chips.

I got the original recipe from here but I modified it as well by adding bananas and walnuts. The bananas were not that obvious though, cuz there wasn't enough bananas :(

Hmm what's next to bake~~? Any suggestions?

Thought of making some candied walnuts next time... Hmm...

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Yeap I've watched this as well.

But I'm not going to write much of a review on it. Well you know, light romcom like this don't have much for me to write about as it has nothing that philosophical and you can always pretty much guessed the rest of the story the moment you read the caption line of the movie. I just wanna quote a sentence or two from the movie which I found very similar to some of my thoughts some time ago.

"You know what, it scared the hell out of me too.
What if she hurt me?
You know, what if she left me? What if she died?
It'd have been the end of me.
So I cut it short, before she ever could.
And you know what?
It was the biggest mistake I have ever made."

And here's a second one.

"Any pain that you feel will never, ever compare to the regret that comes from walking away from love."

Agree much? Oh yes I do, very very much. In fact I almost thought the movie copied my thoughts XDXDXD

Meatballs & Winter Warmers

Went out with college mates today, and it felt like this outing was some food-hunting mission. We ate three meals within about six hours. No joke. Well, not that I mind anyway XD, in fact I enjoyed a lot XDXD. From finally tasting the well-known Ikea's Swedish meatballs with cream sauce and Lingonberry jam, discovering Winter Warmers, to getting a bite of the popular and "famous" Ikea's curry puffs and hotdog.

We reached the place at about 10 to 11 in the morning and started off with a bang erm sorry I mean the meatballs. Yeah. Did I mention that PLin's parking skill made all of us almost speechless? I had my eyes closed while she went into the parking lot head-on so fiercely without even slowing down because she nearly nearly neaaarrrly scratch the car beside us. :D

Anyway, back to the meatballs. With cream sauce and Lingonberry jam. Gosh I love the cream sauce.

Actually I think I love the cream sauce
more than the meatballs O.O seriously.

A close up of the meatballs, look at how
creamy and luscious the sauce looked. I know :D
Oh and notice the Lingonberry jam too =D

We shopped for a bit after the brunch. Then I discovered Daiso, a Japanese supermarket where everything is priced at 5 bucks each. It was like my kind of shopping heaven!! Why haven't I discover this before??? OMG I couldn't believe that. I have no idea why Daiso never open up a store in the city, it's really beyond me. What a waste of business opportunity. Sighs oh well.

Again as usual we mulled over where to have lunch after several hours of trolling around the malls (note: malls: plural), then finally all of us poured into a little sweet modest looking English tea and coffee house named Winter Warmers. Mind you I was quite tired by that time.

The interior's quite small but very chic.

Their signature teacups cabinet.

Mine - Chocolate-Mint Coffee
One of the few times I drank coffee. Or shall I put it correctly
I was duped into ordering this cuz I only focused on
the words "chocolate-mint" when I was placing
my order. Then only I discovered that it's actually hot coffee. =.=
But not bad actually. The coffee tasted quite nice for a change.
And yes we marveled at the prettiness of the cup for quite a while XD

SMay - Green Tea Ice Blended.

PLin & Steph - Rose Ice Blended
Looked a bit like orange ice blended to me though XD

PLin & Steph - Macaroni Cheese Bake
I couldn't forget the smell of the thick melted cheese...yum.

Liana - Mango Chicken Rice
Very tangy and very mangoed -
the chicken, the sauce, and the mango.
Love the sweetness of it ;)

SMay - Veggie and Egg Waffle
Seriously I think this is the first time I saw a savoury waffle.
Very creative and tasty!! The egg added a nice flavour to the waffle :)

Mine - Deep Fried Garlic Chicken
I love the garlic sauce. And the cold potato salad.
But the pasta garden salad's a bit weird-tasting, there's
something about the dressing they used... very floral-like.

I forgot to take pictures of the curry puffs and the hotdog. The curry puffs were not exactly the kind I like cuz the pastry's too thick especially at the sides of the puff. I prefer thin pastry when it comes to curry puffs =X The hotdog however was a delight. We can put as many chili sauce, mustard, relish and chopped onions on it. I love the relish. That was why I didn't take a picture of it, too busy gobbling it down XDXD

Gahhhh I wanna go out with you guys again!!!!!!! :D

C-U-P-C-A-K-E-S

I BAKED AGAIN.

And this time it's not those pre-mixed stuff anymore. I really BAKED. As in, beat the sugar and butter and fold in the mixture into the flour and all those. You get the picture anyway. YES, I DID IT!!! :D After about, oh-I-don't-know, 3 years after my parents bought the oven, finally someone actually used the oven to bake some cakes. Teehee!

Um, it's vanilla choc chip cupcakes with white chocolate frosting. Well, it was supposed to be chocolate fudge frosting but mom bought the wrong kind of chocolate =.= But seriously the chocolate wrapper was really misleading, I thought it's milk chocolate too until I opened the package =.=

Anyway stop reading my crap and LOOK AT MY FRESHLY BAKED CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! Lol.

Baking~ baking~ the vanilla scent in the air~

I know this arrangement looked so gay but whatever.

Pretty? Pretty??

I would've bought some colourings to add to the frosting
had I known that it's white but not milk chocolate xD

:D

Last one~~

Alright, show's over XD. But to tell the truth the cupcakes were not really that good. The frosting's a bit tasteless and it's worse when paired with the vanilla cupcakes as both were equally tasteless. Luckily there was some choc chips in the cupcakes so at least they're not too dull.

Oh I got the recipe from Joy of Baking.com and as for the chocolate frosting the recipe's from here. I've modified the recipe a little bit to make room for the chocolate chips and the white chocolate. But REMEMBERRRRR to get milk or dark chocolate for your frosting. The good quality ones. Don't get crappy-branded white chocolate like me, ruined the frosting. Hehe.

Kyaaa I'm still so happy :D

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Finally I've watched this movie.

It was okay, not too bad, but not much to be praised and applauded I guess? See that's a major disadvantage when fictions are adapted into movies. We know exactly what's going to happen and it's quite a killjoy.

But I quite like the soundtracks included in this movie. Upbeat and made the movie more interesting. However Bex doesn't look like what I've imagined at all. I thought Bex was supposed to a petite but oh well.

"Strike with precision, then get out."

A Thousand Acres

Read and watched. Well, if it wasn't for the "Winner of the Pulitzer Prize" so obvious and intriguing on the cover of the book, I don't think I'll be interested to read it. It's not that the cover's boring (although it is indeed one of the many reasons), but the starting of the fiction's so dull and tasteless, I nearly fall asleep on every pages of the beginning part of the book.

And then it got more and more exciting, the story began to take its form and the plots began to unveil one by one, little by little bit. I felt that Jane's trying to make us realize the cruelty of real life, the helplessness of those who suffered. And sadly, reality's always that way. In this book there is this confusion and fine distinction of what's right and what's wrong, how can some things might seem so wrong but in fact it's as rightful as any other justice. I got a glimpse of how humanity can be twisted and manipulated about and how different viewpoints might just change someone's life significantly.

However, it's awfully easy to be confused of what's going on in the book as Ginny, the person whom eyes we look out from in the story, doesn't really tell us much about her feelings, and also her thoughts, as dark secrets began to float above the surface. As I was reading the book, it was as if I have been thrown into a pool of seemingly clear water, but in fact it's utterly murky and dark, because just when I thought I know everything, the book revealed other complications, and in the end it felt like it's all totally messed up. I was especially shocked, literally, that Ginny, I believe out of subconsciousness, made a jar of poisoned sausages to murder her sister out of desperation. It's funny how can feelings and thoughts affect how one person behaves, and I realized that the enemy that one should really fear the most is ourselves. Life gives you shit sometimes but it's always up to us to choose what to do and how to react to it. That's where what we've learned from various different exposures comes in.

Ginny might be wrong in that decision but then again, she was provoked. There is a limit of how much a person can handle and clearly Rose did not know that. But ignorance is never a good reason for wrongdoings. It's hard to tell who is right or wrong but then again, isn't the world always grey?

By the way, it's a waste that Ginny's idea of murder was not included in the movie. To me, it's a fairly important development of the character. But the movie's not so much of a disappointment actually because at least most of the things happened the way I had imagined while I was reading the book. Though I thought Rose was older than that in the movie. Hmm...

Better Than Fast Food

Sausage+egg+Korean instant noodle=Quick and simple yum.

Yeah...had this for lunch... best to go with a movie and peach iced tea... =D

Anyway, I found out that Miley Cyrus's gonna be starring in one of Nicholas Sparks movie. The Last Song or something like that. Omg... horror... lol, kidding. I have nothing against her but I can easily name a few who can't stand her xD

But do try the sausage egg noodles when you have the ingredients, it's very similar to one of the menu items served in regular Hong Kong diners ;)

DORIAN GRAY!

I HAVE to watch this.

I hope I don't have to tell you to look carefully and ensure that the realization of DORIAN GRAY=PRINCE CASPIAN dawn upon you? Bahaahaa.

Yes, a classic I love so much, even though I've never read it (umm wtf?), is going to be on screen soon, starring an actor whom I nosebled before from Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Now, don't you think the world looks more beautiful already? LOL.

LOOK at that poster!!! *Swoons*

And anyway yes that's Colin Firth, and I know he looks *coughsoomgfunnaycough* but hey, the highlight's supposed to be Ben Barnes isn't it?? Yeah, ouch for Colin Firth (Shadows: Sorry! Don't hit me! XD), yay for Prince Caspian! I mean Ben Barnes (there's something lame about the name, imho.)

I hope this movie rocks as much as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LXG). It's a movie I love ever since 2003 when it first came out. Very creative, very exciting, and by the way there's Dorian Gray in it too but as one-of-the-many leading characters not the main character. That Dorian Gray was acted by Stuart Townsend though, not that I mind, since I think he fits the character quite well too.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!!! :D

FAQ.. XD

LATEST EDIT: Modem's back. Seems like I still can have the net. I know, wtfwtfwtf. Dad, please don't play this kinda joke with me anymore? Sigh.

So, some of you might noticed that I've disappeared off the face of the net world. For more than a week or so. No showing up on fb, blog, msn, twitter, nada.

Before you guys start firing questions at me, please do read the following FAQs (LOL):

Q. How come I never see you online anymore??
A. My modem has been taken away from me. =)

Q. WHY??
A. Well, it's not that sudden really. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and now finally got the guts to cut it off. =D

Q. Why not earlier but now??
A. I got a really record-low mark (since primary school) for one of my papers, and so that's the trigger point. Please don't ask how low it is.

Q. How low??
A. Please re-read the previous answer and tell me which part of "Please don't ask me how low it is." that you don't understand :)

Q. Then how're you going to LIVE?
A. It's very hard but I'll try to live, don't worry, I don't think I'll die *yet* And besides, I'll still hang out with you people as often as I can :)

Q. Then how're you going to online then?
A. I still have my laptop and wifi. And maybe dad'll let me have a go at it *sometimes*. I'll occasionally use the college's wifi, or starbucks, or other coffee house.. well, you get the picture.

Q. What time usually will you be online?
A. No friggin idea. It depends really. But definitely not into the late night like I usually do since it's almost impossible to stay so late outside.

Q. OMG! How am I ever gonna chat with you online again???
A. You can text message me on my mobile. I'm not dead you know :)

Q. But won't text messaging be slow? What time can I text you?
A. I'll try to reply asap provided that I'm not unconscious (sleep), busy, or having class. I don't really reply to text msgs in class unless in the case of emergency. Sorry.

Q. So that means you're going back to being the ice/stone/prehistoric/pre-21st century age woman the way you were before you got broadband connection?
A. *Sigh* I know. One minute I'm all 21st century, and the next minute I'm not. I'm sad now :(

Q. How're you going to pass your free time which you normally spend on the net then??
A. Oh well, watch telly (something I NEVER do when I had the net), watch my long-abandoned animes, read novels, enjoy being utterly-freaking free and detached from the world *flashes a brilliant smile*.

Q. You liar! Then how come I saw you still update your twitter/blog/xxx so frequently?!
A. You don't know how incredibly easy it is for me to update my twitter with my wifi mobile. N82's awesome.

Q. What do you miss most online?
A. Surprisingly, I don't miss MSN at all. I miss my blog and twitter, where I can express myself and type whatever I want whenever I feel like it. And google, and image google. And wikipedia. Yeah, those are the sites I miss. Facebook? Hmm... sometimes. Hee!

Q. What's your next problem then?
A. My mobile phone bill. xD

Q. When will you have your net back??
A. I'm sorry, I honestly don't know.

Q. Are you gonna abandon the blog???
A. Nope. I'll still blog. Be prepared for blog outbursts, and twitter outbursts =D

Q. How bout fb other social networking sites?
A. Fb, once in a while, I hate friendster since the beginning of time xD, for others not mentioned, I don't even have an account there. :D

That's it! (I think.) Will add more if there's the need :D

Toodles!

Satisfaction of a Poet

I used to hate poems and poets. I hate the kind of confusion a poem left me, where I felt lost and blinded after reading the poem, not knowing what to do or what to say, let alone what should I feel, especially when words can be played so ingeniously by the poet.

But I realized that there is a certain satisfaction when you're a poet. It's the same kind of satisfaction where you yell to the world in an unknown language, nobody really knows what you're talking about, and yet it's always accessible to them, so it's up to them to decide if they choose to care about you, learn the language and see the world through your eyes, or just leave it and pretend nothing ever happened.

It is also convenient that you can hide nasty comments in between the lines, where no one can really see it, yet it's there, blatantly obvious to you, but not others, isn't that satisfactory? :) Besides, there're just some things that you don't spat it out to people you know. So in a way, you can say those things in an indirect way, without suppressing your real feelings, and available for everyone to see :D

But still I hate poems xDD

Pearlescent

In the game Burnout Paradise, we call this the "Pearlescent Pink".

I saw Pearlescent Purple before, it was SOOO pretty, but I forgot to snap a pic of it that time.

I bet this kind of paint costs a bomb :P

Yvonne..

Will the paths ever cross?

That's what I wondered, whenever I saw you,

I lost count of the number of times I saw you on my way to somewhere,

Walking past you, unable to meet your eyes,

Not knowing who he is, not knowing who am I.

Will our paths ever cross?

I guess... probably not.

I'm a fairly pessimistic person, I know.

Yvonne..
